San Jose's Dia De Los Muertos Festival
In celebration of a very beautiful day, I decided to post the flicks I took. I haven't been to a Dia De Los Muertos Festival in years, so I was excited to attend this one. The weather and the atmosphere were the perfect combination . I wasn't able to get many pictures of the vendors there, because hanging out with my little girl definitely keeps me busy, but there was some amazing art and music!
Check it out…

Shut Up & Drive
I really don't remember exactly when or why I started this painting. The reference I originally started out using was a self portrait of a fast halloween costume I had thrown together for a party. If I had to guess, I would say it was at least 6 years ago. All I know is that the last time I worked on it before this year was when I first became pregnant. I never touched it again until a few months ago.

New Watercolor
Today was my day off from work, and I was yearning for the moment to create something, or post a blog post or two. Something! Time has not permitted me to get anything creative done lately. So while it was nap time for the little one, I snatched up this little water color I started a few weeks ago, and finished her up.
Just In Case
Just in case you are in the San Jose Area, be sure to stop by the Back Bar in the Sofa District. I have some work on display and for sale, along with Force129.

In the Mood
I feel like the song, In the Mood by Glenn Miller on this beautiful night. Its a perfect summer night out here in the Bay Area. No complaints at all. I was also able to get in the work space for a good hour and a half too, so I just used what was in front of me and free styled for a while. Here's just a couple of flicks my boyfriend was able to get for me. Check em out...

Parov Stelar - Booty Swing
I came across this video just now, and I love it. Plain and simple, I love it. It brought back an urge to get up and dance. The beat is sick and then to have old dancing clips in black and white just seals the deal.
One of my first passions was dancing, music had a way of just taking over my body and transforming it into this smooth body in motion. I could never get enough, I loved all types of music and dances, I just wanted to move and sway and connect with the melody. Any chance I got, I did just that.
This dancing bug runs deep in my family too! My mom is a smooth operator on the dance floor, along with my aunts, my sisters, and my daughter. I love watching my baby let loose when she hears music, its such a gift to be able to let go of everything and let the music guide you.
Its been a while since I've been able to do that, this song and video inspired me to take a dance class for fun, hopefully soon. We shall see, but definitely going to share this with my daughter later.
Enjoy ; )

2 Buck Tuesday
So I recently participated in a monthly event called Two Buck Tuesday at Kaleid Gallery. Since I don't have a ton of time right now to create oil or acrylic paintings, I've been practicing with water color lately and I love working with it, its kind of ironic because when I first started painting I bought water colors and hated them. Anyway, I painted four different characters and then inked them.
This is how they came out…

Outside Inside Out
I'm not even going to get into the whole I've been busy nonsense. Straight to the point today because I'm overloading on life's obstacles. It is now the end of May and I haven't even posted the flicks from an art show Fernando and I had back in November. November! Can you believe that? Either time has not been kind to me, or I'm just straight up; a procrastinator. Somethings got to change, now. I wanted to get started on a series of posts from the show. The following are some detail shots I got during the exhibit.

Love Will Tear Us Apart
Its been so long since I've put on headphones and allowed my ears to devour the magical sounds of instruments, to fill my soul with creative connections to the art of music. I used to live with my headphones on or my speakers plugged in. Enough was never enough for me, and don't even get me started on the automatic movements my body would display on view for the universe to see when a certain song played. Once upon a time I was a dancer, I was a singer(only in front of certain people hahaha), I was a performer. Those days are long gone now, those days of complete freedom and expression are a part of my past that I miss dearly.
Tonight as I type at 1:29 am, I am reviving an old habit, an old love, an old friend. As each song plays so does a memory. My eyelids are starting to blink uncontrollably from a long day of my life as a working mom. This seems to be the perfect way to end a productive beautiful day in San Jose.
Note to self and other working moms: do not let go of your first love again. No matter what it may be, make time for yourself to unwind and enjoy what makes you happy. Its very important and healthy for you to still feel like you and enjoy (some) of the things that ignite that flame of independence and satisfaction.
As a working mother, we wear so many hats on a day to day basis and rarely make time for ourselves, so even if it means staying up a little later than usual, or getting up a little earlier, you will not regret it.
So I'm finally off to bed, and I will leave you with the last song that I intend to play. Enjoy, or don't, whatever...lol good night.

Long Live the Leggings !
The fact that Fall is finally here warms my soul! Lol Dramatic much? Really though, during the summer my crew and I would escape to SF just to escape the weather at home! I absolutely love me some cool gloomy days, the color change of the leaves and crunching them as I walk.
In addition to that I love the way I get to dress, I live in layers from head to toe. Since I have to dress up for work I take advantage of the fall to sport some beautiful hosiery! I need to stock up on more for this year, but the picture above is from last year. I found these sheer HUE leggings at Bloomingdales. They are long gone now, I am a Momma so I'm not as careful as I used to be now that I'm chasing a 18 month old.
At least I have flick right?!
